THE OLD PHARMACY GALLERY, SCULPTURE TERRACE & STAR BAR
The Old Pharmacy Gallery in Speightstown offers a wide range of contemporary art and photography together with furniture, antiques and collectibles housed in a temporary space created on the ground floor of this important heritage building.
The Gallery is open Monday and Tuesday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Closed on bank and public holidays.
SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS WITHIN THE GALLERY
You are invited to attend the Private View Of Secret Diaries. Recent Works by Ras Ishi Butcher At The Old Pharmacy Gallery, Queen Street, Speightstown On Sunday 10th January 2010, 5pm – 8 pm. With the support of the National Art Gallery Committee The exhibition continues until Saturday 30th January. Two major pieces which form part of Secret Diaries are on view at Lancaster Great House.

Monday 1st February – Saturday 13th February “LONDON CALLING”: Work created by William Cookson , Artist in Residence at Lancaster Great House.
THE ART BARN A number of artists’ studios have been created within the Old Pharmacy building and will be occupied by the Artists in Residence at Lancaster Great House and emerging Barbadian artists. Disciplines include portraiture, abstract, creative ceramics, sculpture and collage works. The artists’ studios are open to the public during daytime Gallery hours.
THE STAR BAR & SCULPTURE TERRACE The Star Bar and Sculpture Terrace are located directly opposite the Old Pharmacy. Wind Sculptures by Lyman Whitaker are displayed as part of the Lancaster Great House “Sculpture in the Garden” series together with works in coral stone by Jerome Radigois of Martinique .
During the evenings Wednesday through Saturday (from 5 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. ) The Star Bar and Sculpture Terrace will be transformed into the ultimate Apres Plage wine bar where one can meet friends after a day on the beach or before dining out in one of the West Coast restaurants. Enjoy The Star Bar’s Caribbean setting under the stars, on the edge of the beach surrounded by art – on the terrace and in The Old Pharmacy Gallery which will remain open until 10 p.m.
THE CLASSIC MOVIE SEASON Starting in the New Year a season of classic movies is planned for Tuesday evenings including Casablanca, It Happened One Night, Island in the Sun, Gone with the Wind, the Sound of Music. Watch nostalgia in action, enjoy a glass of wine from the bar, and bring a picnic. Reservations essential as seating is limited.

An exhibition of ‘Chinese Watercolour Paintings’, The Opening Ceremony will be held on January 17th , 10am-1pm , with the viewing continuing until 6pm. Showcased are the outstanding works of 50 celebrated Chinese watercolour painters currently active in China ’s painting circle. To a great extent, these selections represent the best of China ’s contemporary watercolour painting. Chinese watercolour painting is a natural blend of both Western and Chinese art traditions. It crosses the boundaries of both Eastern and Western art. The exhibition continues until January 24th, 10am-6pm .
