NAGC ( National Art Gallery Committee) 1. British artist Sonia Boyce returns to Barbados in August where she will work on a film production as part of the Bicentenary exhibitions and events in 2007 for the commemoration and celebration of the 1807 Bicentenary of the British Abolition of the Slave Trade. The project, a collaborative effort between the NAGC, the BMHS, and the Harewood House Trust in the UK. responds directly to the history of the Lascelles family association with Barbados starting in the 17th Century and Harewood House. The exhibition opens at Harewood House later this year and in Barbados in 2008. This project provides the opportunity to develop linkages between the NAGC, the BMHS and the Harewood House Trust for future collaborations and exchange of exhibitions, research and ideas. 2. Visual Arts Website design is complete. During August profiles and images received from 50 artists are being uploaded to the site. This free website services is available to all visual artists in Barbados. For more information on how to participate contact the NAGC Secretariat at 228-7523 3.
